Low cost 3D printing

The Industrial Design program at UNSW is exploring the research potential and teaching utilisation of low cost 3D printers.

This blog documents the journey from opening the box to printing and beyond. The project will explore the set-up, calibration and test run of various low cost 3D printers. Initially a Utlimaker and Netfabb software was purchased, however it is envisaged that other machines and software will be assessed in the near future. The project aims to assess the utility of such machines for learning and their role in the design process.
